VersaLaser 350:

Our VersaLaser 350 is Shore Lasers' most important piece of equipment. It performs all the engraving tasks for our company. The VersLaser was chosen because of its versatility and ease of use.

A customized Window driver speeds setup for jobs and allows settings to be changed quickly right from your PC. The driver comes with many predefined settings for many standard engraving surfaces. We use a VersaLaser with a 50watt laser tube. It's the top of the VersaLaser Line.

The VersaLaser handles items sized up to 12x24x4 inches. Currently the laser has run almost 2000 production and test jobs without any major issues. It's a very reliable piece of equipment.

Apple 24' iMac

Our striking 24inch Apple iMac, running Apples OS X Leopard, is the second most important piece of equipment. It's the top of the line iMac loaded with every option available. It is used to perform a lot of the layout and graphic art projects taken on by Shore Lasers. Its huge screen allows many windows to be open and viewed simultaneously. Its speed is excellent and it performs day in and day out without problems.

We use VMWare to be able to run some of our Windows based graphical applications and to remotely monitor activities on our Laser and its host PC. We turn to this machine time and time again as it has become our day to day workhorse.

This PC is attached to our VersaLaser and is used to run production and test jobs on the laser. Without this PC the laser will not run. This PC runs Windows XP. Although its not the fastest machine in the world, without it production would halt. This machine is loaded with Corel Draw X3 and is used for last minute edits of production work.

Corel Draw X3

Corel Draw is the most important software product used by Shore Lasers. Corel Draw includes so many features for a graphic artists that it would take paragraphs to describe. It is on of the most powerful and easy to use graphic arts programs on the market. All jobs run on the laser are produced through Corel. Even images that we process through PhotoGrav wind up being put into production via Corel Draw X3.

We run Corel Draw natively on our Windows machines, and through VMWare we are able to run it seamlessly on all of our Macs. Corel performs like a finely oiled machine in all of our operating environments. If we didn't have Corel we would not be able to produce the demanding projects our customers bring our way so quickly.

We have purchases and installed the latest version of Corel X4, but we have yet to release it into production. X3 woks so well that we haven't found the need to move to the upgraded version.

Corel Draw

We use PhotoGraV to process certain images that require special attention. PhotoGraV has been designed specifically for Laser Engravers. The objective of the program is to efficiently process scanned photographs so that they can be engraved on a variety of common materials with confidence that the engraved photographs will be of superb quality.

Traditionally, the engraving of photographs has been difficult and has been a hit or miss endeavor resulting in many discarded products. The process has been so difficult and time consuming, in fact, that many engraving shops simply do not offer engraved photographs as one of their products. But we do and PhotoGraV has proved its usefulness to us.
